This volume features essays written by Matthew Arnold, an English poet and critic. The essays discuss and critique Protestants, Puritans and the Church of England. Arnold was known for his controversial religious opinions, critiquing the bible and religion, which was rare for the time.


CONDITION

In the publishers original cloth. Externally very smart with very slight rubbing to the extremities and joints, and very small tears to the head of the spine. Hinges weak with a booksellers label to the front pastedown. Internally binding tender in places. Pages age toned and generally clean with only the odd spot.
