Pair of Rare Donald Birkbeck Cauldon Vases Decorated with Wading Birds

Circa mid 1920s

13cm diameter bowls

These two bowls have superb all round decoration in the form of wading birds - both are different species and both show a pair on a sky blue ground

These are early Cauldon pieces from the mid 1920s and one is signed - the other may be but I cannot find a signature.

Donald Birkbeck is best known as a top Crown Derby painters and these pieces are early examples of his work - born 1886 - 1968

Cauldon marked to base

both have minor issues - but both are very stable and the imperfections not really visible to the naked eye
