The complete story in two volumes, bound in smart quarter crushed morocco. 

Les Belles de Nuit (Beauties of the Night) is an adventure novel by Paul Feval which begins in 1817 and ends in 1820 in Brittany and Paris. The work was originally divided in five parts, where this set is divided into two (LAdventurier and Les Filles de Penhoel.

The complex plot is heightened by use of fake names, lies and tangled relationships. 

Paul Feval is best known as one of the fathers of modern crime fiction, with his novel Jean Diable regarded as the worlds first modern novel of detective fiction.


CONDITION

In quarter crushed morocco binding. Externally, smart. With moderate edge wear and marks to the boards. Darkening to the spine labels. With unnamed bookplates to the front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with instances of scattered spotting, mainly concentrated to the first and last few leaves.
