Bible 1804 NT & Psaumes de David, Pennsylvanie Allemand Fraktur Bookplate Hoffman liquidation

Offered - New Testament and Psalms of David in one edition, Martin Luther, Waisenhaus (orphanage), Halle, Germany, 1804, leather bound, multi color fraktur bookplate on the first end page by Jones Hoffman dated 1808, New Testament 691 pages, Psalms of David 163 pages.

Age - Published in 1804.

Measurements - 5 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 2"

Condition -Good, moderate wear to the leather, a bit of loss to the leather at the corners, modern number written in black ink on the back cover, tight binding, clasps present and stable but one appears to be missing the decorative cap, no hinge cracking, the fraktur on the first end page shows some edge loss, a bit of cracking at the top of the gutter of page 192, a few ink spots on page 527, smaller less noticeable ink markings to a few pages throughout, moderate tanning throughout, complete.

Condition Grades:

As New: The book is in the same condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been kept in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed, or even opened.

Fine or Near Fine:A fine book approaches the condition of as new, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket, or pages.

Very Good :Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear but with no tears on either binding or paper.

Good:Describes the average used worn book that has all pages or leaves present.

Fair:A worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, loose binding, missing jacket.

Poor:Describes a book that is sufficiently worn. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, loose or missing plates and pages, detached or missing covers.
