The late Jesse Winchester had to accept the fact that he would spend his life restricted to performing in Canada -- to which he had fled to avoid Viet Nam War conscription -- and anywhere else but the U.S., until January, 1977 when Pres. Carter issued an order, the day after his inauguration, pardoning him and the other draft evaders upon request.

This t-shirt was for Jesses initial US tour later that same year. As he had been in exile for his entire career and wasnt that well-known in the U.S., although many of his songs had been recorded by artists such as Jimmy Buffett, Jesse played the opener during the fall of 1977 on Buffetts "Changes in Latitudes" tour. Then Buffett came on and sang more songs that Jesse wrote, just as he does still.

The shirt doesnt appear to have been worn or laundered. There is no sign of wear. The Bearsville logo on the shoulder is intact. Brand label says "100% cotton" and "M (38-40)."
