Undated, dated from copies held institutionally. 

Jacques Lemarchands anguished tale of two men in love with the same woman. Translated from the French by Rosamond Lehmann.

The novel explores the suffering of this affair in particular, narrated from the perspective of one of the men. 

Lemarchand was also a director at French publishing house Gallimard and a drama critic.


CONDITION

In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with only light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Dust wrapper is very smart, with sunning to the spine and handling marks to the wrap. With light edge wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spots and a contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
